Rene Bourque - Anticosti-Island
I am an enthusiastic photographer and professional guide with over 40 years experience on Anticosti. Since I was a teenager, I have been very interested in photography and everything related to the art, which is in constant evolution.
I am the privileged witness of many original scenes and moments, and have compiled an impressive portfolio of landscapes, wildlife, deer hunting and salmon fishing activities on Anticosti Island.
When I started guiding for salmon fishing and deer hunting in 1974, I was already carrying multiple cameras with me, such as a compact Rollei 35S and a Canon F-1 with 3 lenses in a bag near by.
My first digital camera was a Canon PowerShot S500 Digital Elph with 5.0 MP. It was quite a revelation for me back in 2005. I started to learn Photoshop and later Lightroom and since then, I enjoy working on these programs as much as going out and taking pictures.
Today my photo gear consist of a Canon 5D Mark III, a 7D Mark II, a Sony RX100V and lenses such as: 24-70mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8, 16-35mm f4, 100mm Macro f2.8 and a superb 500mm f4 with two converters (1.4 and 2) and tripods. A Phantom 3 Pro drone is also a new addition to my hardware.
During my photo safari, I use mainly two lenses and bodies. The 5D Mark III with a 24-70 zoom and the 7D Mark II with the 70-200mm zoom. I always carry the RX100V in a pocket for video and a tripod. I'm sure a new camera or lens will tease me in a near future !
Organizing a photo tour or safari to share the beauty of the island was only natural for me. I offered my first photo safari in 2013 and the success was immediate. It encouraged me to continue to bring photo enthusiasm to the island.
I enjoy sharing my fascinations of Anticosti and photography with new people. I would be very happy to guide you during a photo safari on the island.
